Fools Farm's BreedingWhy getting involved with breeding? Hormones of a pregnant bitch, worrying during labor (particularly at Fanny’s c-section), destruction of the garden and the nerves and finally saying goodbye. I have to admit, we are a little bit crazy, planning for more dog- and puppy-friendly attachments to our house and garden right away. But there is this frantically fun about Fanny who took on her mommy personality so naturally, her commitment for her puppies, the puppies’ amazing differences and their progress and finally our Piper, which we only got because of that. It is very important for us to engage our dogs mentally and physically according to their natural needs, which of course absorbs a lot of time. In order to ensure an optimal care for our dogs, we will never have many litters. Our motto is “small but nice”. Our main breeding goal is keeping a dog a dog. We neither admire „hunting terminators“ nor soft couch potatoes. We aim for a balanced cross of family-dog and hunting partner, a dog who equally sparkles at family celebrations and at the drive. However you shouldn’t position yourself with your dog next to the buffet or barbecue, a Chessie will in this case just be a Retriever...
We haven’t had enough by all means, so Fanny handed the job on to Piper. Ultimate requirements in health and temperament are understood for us. |
